I was hoping to be able to talk about Francis’ guest strip in more detail with tonight’s Lightbox Podcast but as I mentioned earlier here in this blog and on the podcast, since I play in a men’s recreational baseball team in Northern Virginia, during the summer, the league is sort of at the whim of mother nature. That’s waht has happened this week. My Tuesday night game got rained out and re-scheduled for tonight (Thursday). Therefore, Matt and I are going to record the Lightbox podcast on Saturday morning and see if we can’t get it loaded up as quickly as possible so we don’t skip a week.

Had it not rained on Tuesday, Matt and I were going to talk all about Guest Strips… doing them and accepting them. And I was going to mention Francis’ great take on Roy here. Actually, I like his realistic take on Marc and Roni as well. If I don’t get back too late from my baseball game tonight (which I’m running a bit late for right now), when I get home, I’ll try to add more about Francis’ guest strip.

Okay, so I’m home now from my game (went 2-4 if anyone is interested) but enough baseball talk. Let’s talk about Francis’ strip. First of all, you should go check out his own site at http://swingshiftstudios.com. Personally, I love how he drew Roni and Roy. Actually, to be honest, I always get a kick out of seeing other people’s interpretation of Roy. Not many people have drawn Roni or Jodi. So far Marc and Roy seem to be the most popular characters people like to draw – or, at least like to show me that they’ve drawn. They might have pages and pages of Jodi and Roni sketches they don’t like to show people and I wouldn’t know one way or the other.

So, what do you all think of the way Francis drew Roy? In his e-mail, Francis said he always pictured Roy like the Lon Cheney werewolf and I think he pretty much nailed that style. I also think he looks slightly like Teen Wolf as well but maybe that’s just me. What do you guys think?

Here’s hoping you enjoy it as much as I have.
