B.C. was the very first character to appear in the webcomic version of Capes & Babes. He was based off of our next door neighbor at the time (B.C. was not his name – I made that part up). That family ended up moving to a house a few blocks away from us but we’re still very, very good friends and see them frequently.

I’m not really sure why I ended up writing B.C. out of the strip… that happens sometimes in comic strips. Sometimes, other characters demand the spotlight and that means others fall off. But for B.C., it was more of a situation where I wanted Marc to be more upfront and center but he couldn’t do that simply by being an employee of the store. So, as B.C. slowly drifted into the background, I made Marc not only the manager of Capes & babes but also its owner as well.

It was fun going back and drawing B.C. again but I have to tell you – and I might have mentioned this on a previous Webcomic Alliance podcast before – it’s a good thing I have three volumes printed because it saved me a hell of a lot of time just grabbing Volume 1, flipping the wrap-around cover over and having a great reference of B.C. right there on the back cover.

For the VERY long time readers of Capes & Babes, I hope you enjoyed seeing B.C. make a sudden appearance in the strip. For the readers that aren’t familiar with B.C., go to my very first strip. You’ll find him there along with the first half dozen or so strips.
