Man… when it comes to producing this strip, I have a pretty solid method of operation that helps makes everything go as smooth as possible and helps me crank out the strip as fast as possible. But last night, this strip was giving me a heck of a time. It was only after uploading the strip to WordPress that I finally figured out why. More on that in a moment.

This is for all the hand letterers out there, here is an old graphic design trick my college professor taught me…
I know a lot of inkers that will use liquid white-out to cover up their mistakes but as anyone can tell you, that crap can get real messy and, it’s just flat out hard to ink over once it dries. Well, if you’re prone to inking mistakes, the best thing you can do is go out and get yourself a bulk supply of white mailing labels. Name badge labels work really well too – that’s what I have.

The adhesive on the label isn’t that sticky so you can peel it off your bristol board (as long as you do it slowly), You can cut it with an Xacto knife and you can easily ink over it and the lines of the label won’t show up in your scan. You want proof? Today’s original strip is plastered with those white labels and you can’t tell where they are, can you?

Now, this leads me to what I mentioned in my opening paragraph. I was cruising along pretty nicely with the strip last night when suddenly I started making silly little drawing or lettering goofs. I didn’t understand why until I uploaded the strip and realized it was past 12 midnight – which meant I started making all of these little mistakes…

ON FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!

So I hope you all have a better Friday the 13th than I did when it came to producing this strip!
