About a week or so ago, my good friend, Ryan Fisher posed the comic boom relationship question on Facebook. He got a great response of all sorts of great comic book couples. Being the smart ass that I am, I couldn’t resist going a different route and said “Blue Beetle and Buster Gold” – mainly because Ryan never specifically stated “couples”. He said “relationship” and thanks in large part to Keith Giffen,  J. M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire, all three of those gentlemen made Blue Beetle and Booster Gold unforgettable to me.

The truth of the matter is, when Booster Gold first appeared in comics, I really disliked his character. It wasn’t until he joined the JLA and teamed up with Blue Beetle that he actually became likable to me. But thanks to Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire, that all changed. In fact, it changed so much, I was profoundly disappointed when the often rumored “Blue & Gold” Blue Beetle and Booster Gold mini series never happened. But that’s a post for another day…

My friend, Ryan Fisher

Since I put Ryan in today’s strip, it is only fair I should let you all know about Ryan’s terrific new project/book called Torchlight Lullaby. Ryan is getting a lot of praise and feedback for his book. I encourage you all to go check it out. It was  receiving a lot of worthy praise at the Baltimore Comic-Con and Ryan has already had a couple of featured articles or interviews about his project.

Here is where you can find out more:
