I really have no idea where I come up with this stuff. Probably something to do with not taking my meds. Or taking TOO MUCH of my meds… I can never tell.
In any case, it’s been a long weekend and I plan on writing more about my experiences at Little Fish Comics for FREE Comic Book Day. But for now, I will leave you with the single word that described the type of day I had yesterday… AWESOME!
More tomorrow, folks.
-Chris
On my Twitter account a day or so ago, I mentioned that my goal this weekend was to get four strips done in one day (three Capes & babes strips and my Tuesday “CMX Suite” strip for Community MX). Well, that didn’t QUITE happen.
Instead, I ended up scripting eight Capes & babes strips and two CMX Suite Strips. As for drawing, I ended up only getting two Capes strips and Tuesday’s CMX Suite strip complete. But over all – especially with all those strips scripted, I don;t think that’s a bad day at all. I know exactly where the next couple of weeks are going with Capes & Babes so I won’t have to be “guessing” as I’m doing the strips.
And, as promised, here is the Roy stand-up I created for Pittsbugh and Baltimore Comic Cons that I will be attending in September and October:

This was taken at Little Fish Comics in Fredericksburg, Virginia two weeks ago. Wnat to see more pictures in my Flickr account? You can do so by clicking here.
Well, that’s it for now. Enjoy the strip.

This Sunday (8/23/09), I will be at Little Fish Comics in Fredericksburg, Virginia doing a book signing and sketches. I will also have the stand-up of Roy the Werewolf that I completed today. Roy stands roughly 5 feet tall and is in full color.
I’ll bring my digital camera with me to Little Fish so I can take pictures of Roy by my table.
Also, I will be bringing Roy with me to the Pittsburgh Comic Con next month (Sept. 10 – 13th) as well as Baltimore Comic Con (October 10-11th) as well.
I hope to see you all there!

By the time you read this (unless you’re a midnight owl and like to check the site out at precisely 12 midnight every Monday, Wednesday & Friday), it will be Monday morning and I will have already started my new job. It’s Sunday night right now and tomorrow will be my first day at my new job.
For those that may not know, I was laid off May 5th at a company I had worked for for 10 years. It took three very long and sometimes stressful months to finally find a new home. I should be happy about that as there was also a lot of hard work on my part (and my wife’s part) but there’s quite a bit of nervousness that’s taking over the “excited” part. How will this new job be? What will I be doing? How long will it take for me to get comfortable?
We’re always a bit afraid of the unknown. In a lot of ways, I feel very much like I’m an ex-8th grader getting ready for my very first day of high school – which is VERY ironic because that’s EXACTLY what my daughter will be dealing with in just a few short weeks… she will be entering high school for the very first time.
So, at least we have a bit in common with one another, eh?
In other news, during this weekend, I completed my foam core cut-out of Roy. He will be debuting at Little Fish Comics next Sunday (August 23rd) and than, after that, he will be traveling with me to the Pittsburgh ComicCon September 11-13th. I think he came out pretty darn cool. He stands about Five feet (that’s the tallest piece of foam core Pearl Art Stores had). I’ll try to get a picture of Roy sometime this week so you all can see him too!

I may just be a BIT bias when I say this but personally, I think this is one of my funniest ones yet.
But that’s for YOU ALL to decide.
REMINDER:
This weekend, I will be at HEROES CON in Charlotte, North Carolina. I will be traveling with my good friends, Mike & Ed from Little Fish Comics – the same place I was at for Free Comic Book Day not too long ago. Really looking forward to seeing everyone this year.
If you are planning to attend and want to know where to find me, from the floor plan Heroes has provided, it looks like I’ll be close to the Blood Donation area as well as near by the Indie Island area. I’m not popular enough to get into Indie Island yet but hopefully, with YOUR help, that will change next year.
I will be selling the very first TPB of Capes & Babes called “You can’t print Flick” and doing a lot of commission sketches (I hope!). So, what are you waiting for? Get your hotel reservations today and come to Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend!

After having a bit of a discussion with my new friend Ricky, I decided to re-visit my strip from last Friday and re-do the punchline. That’s the nice thing about having a strip that’s all yours… you get to change the rules whenever you want. So, I am re-running last Friday’s strip again – only this time, with a different punchline.
I don’t really know if it’s better or funnier (mostly because of the subject matter). That’s for you all to decide. But heck… if there’s room in the web comic community for fart and sex jokes, surely there’s at least a LITTLE room for a vampire to say one of the benefits of being a vampire is… well, she doesn’t have to worry about buying Sunshine & rainbow products.
On to something else a little more positive…
Because I have been so focussed on my current job search (and something I need to get a better handle on), I have been very slack in letting people know about how the book has been received so far. So, without further ado, here are a couple of things I wanted to mention…
First, from my friend, Tovias…
Tovias was the first one to buy an artist edition of “You can’t print Flick”. If you’re interested in buying one for yourself, send me an e-mail at capesnbabes [at] gmail.com for more information.
Ben just recently blogged about the book he received in the mail. You can read about it here:
You can’t print Flick.
Second…
I recently sold three copies to my local comic book shop, Painted Visions. I just heard from Aaron and this is what he had to say:
wow good stuff. ill have the 3 books sold verry soon. ive told and shown it to lots of people today, and they now have it as a book to pick up as soon as thay get payed.(people come into the shop broke and pre shop so they know what to get when they do have money.) and a lot of people like and get what i recommend, as i only recomend good stuff.
aaron.
So that puts a lot of enthusiasm and confidence in me as I prepare to go to Heroes Con next weekend. And it would really be lousy of me if I didn’t mention I was going to heroes with my VERY good friends from Little Fish Comics in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
I’m really looking forward to getting together and heading down there with you guys, Mike and Ed (I know… that sounds like a Nickelodeon cartoon, doesn’t it? “Mike, Ed & Flick”…).
