Hey folks, you all might be wondering what the heck is going on today. You all might even be asking yourselves “where in the heck is my favorite little furry werewolf today?”. Well, Marc, Roy and the gang will return on Friday. I’ve just had a bit of a an incredibly hectic schedule as of late with a combination of a MAJOR freelance job with an even MAJOR deadline, some personal stuff going on at home (it’s all good), my men’s baseball league ending its season this week (playoffs start Thursday night!) and a pretty heavy workload going on at my day job right now.
Needless to say, there’s A LOT on my plate right now.
So, please enjoy this CMX Suite strip I did back in January right before Apple released the iPad and people weren’t sure what the iPad was going to be called. I personally liked iScreem or iSlate – but for this particular strip, I thought iScreen was funnier.
I hope you all agree as well.
And even though there isn’t a new Capes & Babes strip up here today, there IS a new “CMX Suite” strip up on the Community MX Home page today (just as it is EVERY Wednesday) – I forgot to add “CMX Suite” to my list of obligations in the paragraph above…
Have a happy hump Wednesday, ya’ll!
-Chris
A friendly reminder that this weekend will mark my THIRD YEAR IN A ROW attending Heroes Con in Charlotte, North Carolina. Heroes Con was the first con I ever attended as an artist so, needless to say, I am VERY excited about this weekend.
Also, as is customary, if you are planning on coming to the convention any time this weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday), please make sure you read Friday’s strip first. If you do, and you come to my table (AA-740 by the way), and you mention the strip, you will get something for free. This offer is good for THE ENTIRE CON. Read the strip at any time during the weekend… heck, you can even pull out your iPhone right at my table and read the strip right in front of me… just mention the strip either Friday, Saturday or Sunday and you get a FREE GIFT. Simple as that.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out my OTHER webcomic – a weekly strip I do for Community MX every Wednesday. Here is a preview of today’s strip:
Have a good one, everybody!

So, first off, let me tell you… I had been driving around in my car for about two weeks when I kept hearing this song, “Whataya want from me” but I never heard the DJ tell me WHO sang the song. Don’t you just hate that? So the more I heard it, the more I was convinced it was Melissa Etheridge. Take another listen to the song and listen to it REAL close – with your eyes shut, even. I challenge you to NOT hear Melissa Etheridge in Adam’s voice. If you’ve listened to enough Melissa Etheridge over the years as I have, Adam sounds JUST LIKE HER!
So anyway, that’s how I came to be inspired by today’s strip.
I hope you all agree that today’s caricature of Adam Lambert is WORLD’S BETTER than Monday’s Robert Di Nero. I think so.
Also, I should mention to all the young kiddies at home, in the first panel… that thing Roy is holding is called a “Boom Box”. Back in the 80’s, that was OUR version of the iPod – only instead of MP3’s, we had cassette tapes and the radio blasting out of huge speakers. If you were REALLY cool, you might have had a boom box with FOUR speakers (2 large and 2 small) along with an equalizer display. Those were always cool – especially when you were playing “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey.
Of course, if anyone can tell me why this particular strip wouldn’t fall with continuity standards – in other words, what’s wrong with this strip? – then you guys get DOUBLE EXTRA BROWNIE POINTS. Sorry. No contest this time. But you do get bragging rights if you can tell me what’s wrong. And why.
Also, since today IS Wednesday, don’t forget to check out my weekly strip over at www.communitymx.com called “CMX Suite”:

Finished an extra long “CMX Suite” strip tonight which caused me to be really late on this one but I got it up. If you care to see my “CMX Suite” over at Community MX, you can click here.
Right now, I’m hitting the sack. Good night everyone.

And this ends the week long cross-promotional look at some of my favorite CMX Suite strips I’ve done since May 5th of 2004. I know this one isn’t in full color but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
And again, if you want to check out a different type of strip than what I do for Capes & Babes, you can check out “CMX Suite” every Wednesday on the home page of Community MX. You can find my archives here.
I was interviewed!
The online version of the Washington CityPaper (that’s NOT typo) interviewed me while I was at one of the local one day shows I attended last month. Here is that interview.
The Washington CityPaper is the city’s “alternative” newspaper – I belive most major metropolitan cities have some kind of paper similar to the CityPaper…
Mike Rhode interviewed me. Mike, it was great meeting and talking to you again (I had met Mike at a previous show before doing the interview with him).

Hello folks… this is yet again another CMX Suite strip from a few years back. This one dealt with Bill Gates announcing his retirement and, well, being the loyal Apple user that I am, I thought it would be fun to poke a little fun at his retirement by depicting a bunch of “other” famous “bad guys” and how they would deal with retirement.
If I haven’t done my job well enough, that’s Jack from “The Shining” in panel two, Freddy from “Nightmare on Elm Street” in panel three and Darth Vader himself in the last panel. Vader’s colors were inspired by the old Marvel Star Wars comics that came out years ago when I was a kid. Back then, probably because of a lack of sophisticated color technology, Vader was always colored blue instead of black. So, that’s what I did here.
If you’re interested in reading “CMX Suite”, you can find it on the home page of Community MX every Wednesday or you can read my entire SIX YEAR ARCHIVE.
This was yet another favorite full color CMX Suite strip I did for Community MX. This one dealt with my being a Girl Scout camp helper one year for my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. I thought it would be funny that instead of telling all of the girls spooky camp fire stories about monsters and such, I’d tell them about something much, much scarier…
The drinking habits of Canadians!
I hope you’ve been enjoying these full color DAILY strip this week. If you would like to learn more about “CMX Suite” or Community MX, you can read “CMX Suite” every Wednesday on the home page of Community MX. Community MX is a site dedicated to providing articles, templates and everything you ever wanted or needed to know about web site design.
This is another favorite “CMX Suite” strip of mine that I did when I first learned about the Nike Ipod shoe. Of course, I had to put my own little twisted spin on it.
“CMX Suite” is published every Wednesday and appears on the Home Page of www.communitymx.com for that day – then it gets shrunk and becomes a sidebar item for the rest of the week with a link to my archives.
If you’re in to web design or want to learn more about web design, I highly recommend and encourage you to check out Community MX!
Some of you may know that I do a second webcomic strip called “CMX Suite” for the website, Community MX. Since Sunday was my birthday, and I spent most of the evening partaking in my annual ritual of stuffing myself with crabs, I decided it might be a good week to highlight just a few of my favorite “CMX Suite” strips I have done since May 5th of 2004.
If you are interested in viewing and/or reading any of those strips, here is a direct link to those archives: CMX Suite archives.
Today’s strip features one of my favorites ones… a spoof of the Mac / PC commercials. Look for “CMX Suite” strips all this week.
Guest Speaker at Intervention Con 2010
You might notice the new banner I have directly underneath the strip. Well, today it became official. I WILL be a guest at Intervention Con 2010. I’m going to be writing more about this later but I really wanted to quickly say I’m SUPER EXCITED about this and I’m almost sad we have to wait until September. That’s just too far off for me!
THANKS EVERYBODY!!!
This morning, I woke up to receive a TON of e-mails, Facebook messages and Tweets from all of my friends – both “real” and ones I’ve only known via the ‘net – all wishing me a happy birthday. I just wanted to say thanks to each and everyone of you for being so kind and wishing me such great thoughts.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Chris Flick
Now, if THAT title doesn’t bring me some traffic, I don’t know what will!Â
On a serious note though, if you could take a few moments to read the “Pin-ups & Sketch Card” blog post, I would be very appreciative – even more so if you took me up on one of those offers…
But that’s not really what I wanted to write about tonight. Instead, I wanted to give everyone a head’s up to let you know that in the very near future, I am planning on running some of my favorite “CMX Suite” strips that I do for Community MX. I’m doing that for a variety of reasons…
1) I REALLY need to take the time to build up a buffer for Capes & Babes. I see this almost on a daily basis and I’m beginning to feel the pinch (and pressure) of not having a big enough buffer…
2) I also REALLY, REALLY need to get back to working on my Capes & Babes website re-design. I haven’t been able to do that yet due to so many other prior commitments – including the consistent posting of this strip. But something has to give way… the new design is no longer a luxury – it’s a necessity and I need to make it that.
Hmmm… okay, so I guess there’s really only TWO reasons but they are really BIG reasons.
Hopefully though, you all will enjoy my “CMX Suite” cartoons – at least those of you that haven’t read or know about them.Â
-Chris
