Capes-n-Babes

No, you’re not imagining things. Today is Thursday and there’s a NEW strip up for today. And there will be a new strip up for FRIDAY as well.

As I kept looking over Friday’s strip, it just seemed to need something a little extra for the big payoff at the end. The only way I felt I could do that was by creating a completely new strip. Maybe this is one of the advantages of working “daily” as opposed to every other day (Mon-Wed-Fri)… sometimes I do feel like some of the jokes (or story lines) are crammed into three strips every week.

The thing I’ve discovered is that with a three-a-week strip, you don’t want to end your story line on a Wednesday as that means a new story line has to start on Friday and people will lose interest or simply forget what your Friday strip was on a Monday. But if you had more strips on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you have a lot more flexibility.

In some cases, it’s just like doing a single weekly strip and then suddenly deciding to do two more additional strips… suddenly, you have the flexibility to have extended story lines without the fear of alienating or losing reader’s interest.

I would love to make Capes & Babes a daily, five-day a week strip. And maybe that will happen later in 2009.
