It’s 11:30pm as I write this on a Thursday night. Around 10:30pm, the 13 year old fall baseball team I was helping to coach this year got eliminated from the 2013 Fall Baseball tournament.

I think I’m only now beginning to finally get feeling back in my finger tips.

It was a crazy game that had a lot of bizarre plays but in the end, our team made a gallant effort to come back from a 6-1 deficit in the second inning. We finally tied it up in the 6th inning (we only play seven innings) but ended up losing by three runs. We had a chance to come back one last time in the bottom of the 7th with bases loaded and two outs but came up empty.

This was the first time I had gone back to coaching on a regulation size field since three years ago when I helped out a traveling team composed of high school players. Our team had some young guys – one or two that were in the 11 year old range – while most of our opponents had played a few seasons of regulation-size baseball and almost all of them averaged 13 years old, so we were a fairly young team. I look forward to seeing what these same group of kids might do nexy year.
