So on Saturday, I had a great lunch with John Gallagher who does a terrific comic called Buzzboy – maybe you’ve heard of it? Anyway, we were shooting a bunch of ideas over the Kickstarter campaign I want to start for the third volume of Capes & Babes. There’s still a lot to work out in terms of creating a video and things like that before I actually start putting the thing together but John helped me nail down a few things and gave me some really great pointers in terms of what worked for him and things like that.

The news a lot of you are probably interested in hearing is… WHAT ABOUT THE THIRD BOOK?

Well, I can tell you all it has gone past the “preliminary” staged. In fact, I have already started on the cover. Here is a very big sneak preview of some of the characters that might be on the cover:

Many of these characters have already been inked as well as the background. I don’t want to go in to too many details just yet as (hopefully) all of the really cool, juicy details will be reserved for a very enticing Kickstarter video. But here’s what I will tell you so far…

The book will be titled THAT’S Why You Can’t Print FLICK….

I am in the process of conceptualizing all of the “extra features” for the book. I already have some ideas but here is something I wanted to throw out to all you artists that are fans of the strip…

I would like to put a Roy the Werewolf Gallery in the book. I would like it to consist of various versions of Roy drawn by friends and fans of Capes & Babes. If you are interested in participating, here are the guidelines:

  1. Draw Roy doing anything you want (as long as it’s not sexually graphic – remember, I sell the books to an 11 year old and up demographic)
  2. Draw Roy in your own style
  3. The final piece will be printed in black and white so if you want to do color, that’s fine but I’ll have to convert it to grayscale for the book
  4. The book dimensions are 8.25×8.25″. You can draw Roy bigger than that but I will reduce the final piece in order to fit the book
  5. The final piece has to be high resolution – at least 300 dpi or greater (preferably 600 dpi or greater)
  6. Include a brief bio of yourself and what you would like to promote (website,Facebook page, etc.) as I will be including that info on the same page as your illustration
  7. Because my goal is to have at least some Volume three books ready before Heroes Con in June, I’m asking for an end of March deadline to get these illustrations in to me

I believe that’s about it. If you want or need more information, you can add a comment below or send me an e-mail at capesnbabes [at] gmail.com
