If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know this section was where I had originally asked for donations when I was laid off from my job back in May of 2009. Well, since that time, I found a new full-time gig so I felt it was time to get rid of or edit this particular post. As you can see, I decided to edit it instead of getting rid of it.
If you enjoy Capes & Babes and would like to somehow show me some love, you can click any of the donation buttons at the top or bottom of this post and it will take you to my Paypal account where you can donate any amount that you wish.
All of your donations will go directly into my Capes & babes account and will be used STRICTLY for things related to the strip – those things will primarily include art supplies but might also include promotional material used at Conventions and what not. So really, any donations you make will – in some way shape or form – flow back to you. It’s all very circular in nature.
So, as Bartles & James used to say during the 80’s… I thank you for your support.

Thanks everyone!

As some of you know, this past week, the site has been going up and down. Some of that had to do with the crazy weather we were having in Northern Virginia at the time and some of it had to do with the server directory going bonkers – and really, it really might have been a combination of events.
In any case, the Capes & Babes site experienced its first real big site crisis and for that, I apologize. The odd thing is, I was actually ahead in terms of a strip buffer and I still have one. So, even though the site was down, there are currently a lot of strips I’m ready to upload – including tomorrow’s strip (2/4/08 – which also happens to be my brother’s birthday. Happy B-day, Brian).
So, I wanted to somehow make a positive out of a negative so I’m letting MY bad luck be YOUR good luck by offering you a few character sketches that I drew and inked. These are in the same style as my Kang Twitter promotional PDF only they aren’t high rez. These character sketches will be in my Convention sketchbook and will eventually be hand colored – just like my Kang illustration was. So, click on one of the sketches below and a larger image will appear in a pop-up window. You’re free to color it, save it and send them around the ‘net if you like. If you do color them though, I would love for you to send me a digital copy so I can put it in a fan art section.
The characters below are Bushmaster, Jennifer Kale and Firebird – all old school Marvel characters. Enjoy!

It’s not that Marc’s a wimp. It’s just that, when it has always come to women, he’s always been a pushover and is so very easy to manipulate. On a side note… the house in that last panel? That’s my across-the-street neighbor’s house. I see it every day and night as I look out of my studio’s window (my “studio” is just a converted bedroom in our house.
OTHER NOTEWORTHY NEWS:
My Twitter Kang promotion illustration project got mentioned on Fleen this week.
That same promotion also got mentioned on The latest Gigcast (episode #177)
Convention schedule for 2009 (so far):
Take a look right there on my left sidebar and you’ll see my upcoming Con schedule. First one up is the one day Virginia Comic Con next month. Then it’s a Con in Roanoke Valley – near my college alma matta (Radford University – GO HIGHLANDERS!) and then it’s Heroes Con. Ignore the “Tentively Scheduled for:” part. I am definitely going. I just haven’t fully paid for my table yet but I am going!
And then there is the Pittsburgh Comicon in September. After that, it’s the Baltimore Comicon and (hopefully) this will be the year that I will attend SPX as a artist instead of just a wondering fan.
I’ll let everyone know of any more Con appearances as they pop up.
ANOTHER SUPER BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:
Yes, I am currently working on collecting the first 200 strips of Capes & babes in a book. I’m not taking pre-orders yet as I still have to organize and design the cover of the book but it’s already in the “pre-production” stages. Look here for more news on that!
