Okay, so a few minor notes about today’s strip. The first note being the title.
The title refers to the fact that, in the beginning of Capes & Babes, Marc and Joey DID go out on a series of “dates”… movies, dinner… that sort of thing, but I’m not so sure BOTH of them considered those events as “true” dates. But since they have gone out before, this is, essentially, their First 8th Date.
Second, originally I was planning on having bar stools in front of Joey’s kitchen counter but didn’t like how I ended up inking them. So, instead, I added some decorative wood work. I actually ended up liking the wood work much, much better. I would say I hope you do too but since you never saw the crappy inking of the bar stools, you have no choice but to like the wood work, right? 
And for the final note… the last panel has a bit of an inside joke indulgence that only my wife and I know about. Maybe if you’re kind and ask her to reveal the “joke”, she will. I won’t say anything unless she says it’s okay. Yeah, I know… I’m such a stinker…
Guess who’s coming to dinner?
Actually, it’ll be a lot longer than just dinner. My great friend, fellow cartoonist and Webcomic Alliance cohort… Dawn Griffin, her husband Rick and their dog are all coming to my place and staying the weekend with my wife and kids (and other various pets too). I’m sure we’ll both be taking lots of pictures. If all goes well, maybe we might have another cartooning friend over as well – we’ll have to see.
In any case, we’re gonna have a riot and hopefully those future pictures WILL tell the tale of a thousand words!
