So this past weekend, I attended the Greater Allentown Two –Day Comic Con for the first time. My friend, and fellow Webcomic Alliance member, Dawn Griffin, was there too.  Because of that, we decided to co-write a Webcomic Alliance convention re-cap where we give both of our individual views of the show… a sort of “she said / he said” kind of perspective. So… for a very interesting break-down of the show, you should go to www.webcomicalliance.com and read what we both had to say about the show.

In order to avoid being repetitive from what I said in my part of Dawn’s article, I won’t go in to a great detail about the show except to say I will DEFINITELY be going back to the show next year!

I also mentioned a little bit in the Webcomic Alliance article that I went to the show with my very good friend – and long time Capes & Babes supporter, Bob Kimble. Bob and I used to work together and introduced me to his brother, Rick, at the Pittsburgh Comic Con earlier this year. Rick’s an old baseball player like myself and we hit it off instantly back in Pittsburgh. So when I told Bob I was thinking about going to the Allentown show, he reminded me that Rick lives in Allentown and Rick immediately got in touch and suggested that I should stay at his place since he lived less than 20 minutes away from where the show was being held.

So, as it came to be, Bob picked me up and we loaded his van with my convention gear and headed to Allentown with his wife, Theresa. During the weekend, I got o meet a large extension of Bob’s family – including Rick’s wife, Sue. Both Sue and Rick were extremely gracious hosts and I want to thank them a ton for opening their home to me for the weekend. It was one of the best convention weekends I had in terms of hanging out and making a lot of new friends as Bob’s family is pretty extended.

As I mentioned in the Webcomic Alliance article, I didn’t make great sales on Saturday but I more than made up for it on Sunday. I did a ton of caricature sketch cards – you guys REALLY dig those things! I got to talk to Cindy Morgan (from TRON fame) as well as Jim Kelly too (Enter the Dragon).

Dawn and I had a webcomic panel on Saturday and I thought that went very, very well too. And later that evening, we went to the Texas Roadhouse where Dawn, Bob and I all had their “Roadside Kill”. And we got to talk to our waitress – I want to say her name was Kristina – who was fascinated by the fact Dawn and I did comics that were associated with Marvel, DC, Image or the newspapers as well as the fact that there was a comic convention in town and she didn’t even know it. I took a picture of her and promised I would add her to my blog – so she’s in the gallery section below.

Speaking of galleries… I’ve talked long enough so I’m just going to show you the Allentown Two-Day Con in pictures. Thanks for everyone who came out and bought something from me, ya’ll! I can’t wait to come back again next year!
