Two Hit Wonder…

Two Hit Wonder…

In order to fully appreciate this strip, you need to be familiar with the song “Mumbo Number Five”. Now that I have THAT song stuck in your head for the rest of the day. what are some of YOU favorite One Hot Wonders, songs or albums that you like but no one else would have any clue about?

I’ll get things started by mentioning two performers that I liked as part of their main band but thoroughly enjoyed their one solo album that essentially tanked or bombed. The first was Andy Taylor from Duran Duran. I loved his minor hit “Take it easy (on yourself)” that got SOME radio play. Based on that, I bought his solo album “Thunder”.

The second was Richie Sambora’s solo album, Undiscovered Soul, based entirely on his performance on The Tonight Show. I think he played “Undiscovered Soul” and I liked not only the song but the fact that it looked like Richie was having such a fun time that I thought the album would be fun too. The thing is, it was. There’s a lot of great tunes on that album and “Undiscovered Soul” is a great tune to play on your iPod while you’re on your bike.

So, what are some of YOUR favorite one hit wonders?

-Chris
