Top 40 wisdom…

Boy, a bunch of stuff to discuss for today’s blog..

First: How can you go wrong by seeking the advice of the man who has been reading long distance dedications forever and ever? Yes, he’s the man, the myth, the legend… Casey Kasem. I started listening to American Top 40 every Saturday afternoon on an Orlando radio station back in 1980. The one song I remember being played the most was Leo Sayer’s “Love you more than I can say”. Here’s hoping Mr. Kasem’s advice pans out for Roy (and that they BOTH get a better taste in sweaters…).

Second: I will be interviewed this Tuesday night (March 10th) on the Talkshoe Podcast, Webcomic Reviews and Interviews. You can check the show out (and previous interviews by other web comic creators) by clicking here.

Third: I am currently in the running for a 2008 Webcomic Beaky award. This is an award set up by Fes, Tanya, and Mark who produce the Webcomics Beacon Podcast. The three of them are reviewing a bunch of web comics that were started in November, 2007 and are currently still active – and since Capes & babes made its online debut November 12, 2007, I JUST made the cut off date (I knew there was a reason I picked the day after my wife’s birthday to launch the strip!).

The “Beaky awards” will highlight the strips Fes, Tanya and Mark like in various categories and will be mentioned/featured in a Webcomic Beacon podcast later on this month (March). Since this isn’t a contest, you can’t actually vote for me but you can check out a lot of the other strips that Capes & Babes will be competing against by clicking here.

Fourth: If you are reading this blog in the late afternoon on Friday, I will already be on the road traveling to Richmond, Virginia to attend the premier of Watchmen and hand out a bunch or promotional Capes & Babes material at the Regal Cinema 20 Theater as I mentioned in Wednesday’s blog post.

Fifth: I will be attending Balticon 43 this Memorial Day weekend (need to update my sidebar appearances) as well as the Roanoke Valley Comic Con next month. I will also be at Heroes in June, Pittsburgh Comicon in September and Baltimore Comicon in October. All of my appearance schedules have now been updated in my left hand sidebar.

Sixth: I am currently working on collecting the first 200 or so strips of Capes & Babes in a trade paperback collection that will (hopefully) be available by Heroes (if not sooner). I will soon be posting the cover design of the book and taking pre-orders for the initial run. I will have more information on this as it develops.

If any of you all are going to be at the Regal Cinemas in Richmond, Virginia on Friday night, stop by and say hi to me and my wife. I look forward to meeting any of you that happen to be in the area.

-Chris
