So… you may be wondering who that guy is that Roy’s talking to in today’s strip…
If you are, then shame on you for not knowing about Unshelved. The guy Roy’s talking to is Dewey – one of the main characters from Unshelved. You should check out the strip. It just hit its seven (7) year anniversary.
When I was working on ways to explore Roy and Roni’s “forbidden love” relationship, I almost immediately got the idea that Roy – in an attempt to learn more about vampires (and his girlfriend) would visit a library. And what better library to visit than a web comic library that has been online for at least seven years now?
I hope you enjoyed today’s guest appearance and that you’re enjoying sharing in Roy’s experience as he tries to learn a little bit more about love and commitment.
Currently listening to “Pretty in Pink” by The Psychedelic Furs…

Awesome. Unshelved is one of my regular reads. But why does Dewey look like has a single eye in the middle of his head?
I love Unshelved comics and your cyclop Dewey is fun, too. Plus this strip is totally funny, a werewolf at the library!
Hi Lynne,
Thanks for the compliments. Dewey’s one eye thing is just a style thing – I wanted to stay as honest and as close to the same style as Bill and Gene designed him but I wasn’t positive on how Dewey would look in an extreme profile.
But if you want to see Dewy with two eyes, check out the strip on Friday. I drew him with two eyes in that strip (at least for one panel anyway).

Superb cartoon & Dewey looks fine as a cyclops. I’ve subscribed to Unshelved online for about 3 years and used it with permission in my Colton CA high school Library-Media Center newsletter. The whole Unshelved clan are just what libraries need nowdays, especially Dewey, I think.
Hey dude, Romances are 813.6! LOL!
