Midnight Special…
Well it’s Friday and I decided to do some more experimentation with this particular strip. First up is another sample of my hand lettering - only a little bit bigger and with a bit of a thicker point size too. Does it make a difference?
How do you like the sepia tone version of the strip? I kind of like it. I don’t know if I’ll keep it though. We’ll see.

That hand-lettering definitely looks better from the last comic. Still a bit jarring when I’m used to a font, but that’s just the effect of change. The double-underline looks better hand-lettered, too.

Is that Gilly the perky goth I see in that line, giving the alien the interested eye?

Um, no, that’s not Gilly the perky goth. I actually had to look up Gilly to find out who she was. I’m not a big Dork Tower reader so I never knew about her but after doing that search, I can certainly see the resemblance or why you think it might be her.
But no… that’s Samantha. Samantha popped up about two weeks ago. Go to my archives and look for “Samantha Who?” in the November 2008 archive list.
In fact, all of the characters in the first panel have made appearances SOMEWHERE in previous Capes & Babes strips. Maybe I should offer another prize/contest for anyone that can tell me who the characters are and what strips they appeared in. A couple of them would be easy (like the Alien) but a one or two might be hard since I don’t believe I actually gave EVERYONE an actual name in previous strips.
