First up, I want to mention that the Gigcast Podcast interview that I was graciously asked to give at Heroes Con is now up. If you haven’t yet subscribed to the Gigcast Podcast, you should. I discovered them a few months ago and enjoy listening to their podcast as I drive into work. Here is the link with my interview: The Gigcast. You can subscribe to the Podcast in iTunes by going to the iTunes store, selecting “Podcasts” and then do a search for “webcomics”. That’s how I found them.
And for everyone at Gigcast, thanks so much for including me in one of your Podcasts. I hope to see you guys in Baltimore in September!
Second, I just hope all of you that have recently discovered Capes & Babes are enjoying this little storyline. It’s only my second attempt at doing a long story arch in Capes and I found the first one was a bit unsatisfactory for me so I’m trying to learn a few more things and I hope that those things are showing in this story arch. And for those that have been following the story arch from the beginning, I promise Roy and Marc will get to Heroes Con shortly. But there’s a big payoff right around the corner and I hope you enjoy it as much as I hope you will.

Apparently, according to all of the various stat software or plug-ins I’m using, I have a lot of readers that are overseas. Therefore, for them, this strip is up nearly a full-day early. It’s being posted at 7:45pm my time on a Thursday night, so where ever you are, the new strip is now up!
-Chris
Okay everybody… the new Heroes Con 2008 photos are now up on Flickr. If you would like to see what I saw during the weekend, click on the link below and have fun!
Not currently listening to anything at the moment because I am dead tired. The goal for tomorrow night – after I get through with volleyball – is to sit down and try to draw two strips and start building up my buffer once again.

By the time you read this, I’ll be busy trying to sell all my stuff and make a buck or two at Heroes Con this weekend. If you’re in the area (Charlotte, North Carolina), why don’t you drop by and say “hi”?
By the way, yeah, that’s my OOOOOLD Suzuki Samurai. Used to have a white one with a pull-out cassette radio. It was cool until I blew the engine and the hood latch rusted so much that I either couldn’t open the hood, or when I did, I couldn’t close it. And finding Samurai parts around Northern Virginia was ALWAYS a pain in the butt or HIGHLY expensive.
The car – or, as my wife called it, my “baby Jeep” – was great the first couple of years I had it but once it hit that magical 100,000 miles, it was all down hill from there.
Any other Suzuki Samurai owners out there???

As I’ve been mentioning the last several weeks, I am in the process of getting ready to head to Charlotte, North Carolina for my very first convention as an artist with a table. If you are planning on attending, I will be at Booth SP-18. Just look for the big “Capes & Babes” full-color banner.
I will be selling three mini-comics – each consisting of 28 strips from when I started Capes & Babes back in November. I will also be selling t-shirts that say “I drink plenty of flavored water. It’s called… COFFEE!”. I will also be doing commission sketches as well.
So if you’re in the neighborhood, please drop by and say “Hi”! I’d love to meet you and shake your hand.

Okay, here the deal… ordinarily, I’d be really upset for missing a self-imposed deadline like this strip. As a rule, I like to have the strip up the day before it’s due – in this case, that usually is Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday but with Heroes Con (June 20 – 22) coming up, my schedule has gotten completely out of whack.
The good news though, is I believe once Heroes Con is complete, I will get back on track.
In any case, here is today’s (late) comic!

This past weekend, I pick up the collected archives of Tom Beland’s book, True Story – Swear To God. Tom probably doesn’t remember this but I actually met him a couple of times at Baltimore’s Small Press Expo (SPX) – twice before he had any actual comics to see. At that time, he was just selling his mini-comics of the same name. I actually got a couple from him both times I saw him.
The third time, he had his comic book done and was selling that. I talked to him for quite some time and asked him how he did it and how he put everything together as I really admired that someone could have a full-blown comic book in a style similar to my own.
Anyway, with his True Story book, I see a lot of what I would like to do with Capes. That’s why, starting with “Road Trip”, I’m going to get a bit more into character study so you all know who Roy REALLY is or what’s the deal with Narc and Joey? Are they dating? Are they not? And if so, why not? I have the answers but I just never put them in strip form before. But now that the strip is fast approaching 100 strips, I think it’s time to flesh them out a bit more.
Also, I will be appearing at my VERY FIRST comic book convention as a “professional artist” this weekend (June 20 – 22nd) at Heroes Con in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more information, scroll down a bit and click on the Heroes Con image under “Appearances” in the left-hand side bar. If you’re planning on attending, look for the big “Capes & Babes” banner. Hopefully, it will be hard to miss!

This is just a quick little post. This strip is a little late for a combination of reasons. Had a baseball game last night and didn’t get home until 1:00am but to make up for the lateness, I also recorded how I create the strip in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Once I get a chance to splice the two movies together, I will post them on YouTube.
Have a good weekend everybody!

Okay, so I decided to FINALLY create an ebay listing and auction off some of my art. For my first attempt, I decided to see if my “Darth Puff” illustration will do anything.
“Darth Puff” is my interpretation of what the Staypuff Marshmellow man would look like if he became a Sith Lord. Here’s a small preview image:

If you think it’s funny, you can bid on it buy clicking the link below:
