Scrull or No Scrull…

Scrull or No Scrull…

Just having some fun at ol’ Howie Mandel’s expense – that, and I just finished reading the first installment of the Scrull invasion series from Marvel.

I think it would be safe to say the Bendis HAS to be considered this generation’s version of Chris Claremont. Back in the day, Claremont’s word processor ruled Marvel – at least in terms of productivity and how many books he was writing. Granted, many of those books were X-men books but still, the man was a Marvel writing machine. And he influenced the direction A LOT of Marvel books were going at the time.

Can anything less be said of Bendis? Dang… he practically CREATED a friggin’ universe. That’s not necessarily hard to do in the comic realm of things (New Universe, anyone?). What’s hard is to help create a comic book universe that’s nearly (if not more) popular then its mother universe and I think we can safely say the Ultimate Marvel Universe does just that.

But the Skrull invasion isn’t an Ultimate Universe story – it’s a main Marvel Universe story and to read that Bendis was actually planning this for several years unbeknown to many people at Marvel – including Joe Q as well. Well, there’s your awesome card right there!

I am definitely looking forward to the next seven issues…

-Chris
